Let's Get Serious

While I generally take a cute photo (after weeding a single one out of 25, 50, or more; I'm incredibly picky! ;), I decided that cute isn't quite what I want anymore.

So I updated my photo with all of my social media and author pages, because I wanted something more "authorly".  Oddly enough, I'm holding a genealogy file in my hands in the photo.

What do you think about author photos?  Do they really matter?  Do you like the professional ones without much of a background, or do you like seeing somebody more "in their element"?

Personally, I like to know more about an author than that they look good and write well.  It interests me to see their personality and know what they like to do, because you never know what you might have in common.  ^.^

Puzzling Over Writing

For roughly the past month, all I did was work on a 13,224-piece puzzle.  You can imagine how time-consuming that was!  Did I write?  No.  Did I work on any of my other interests or hobbies?  No.  I cleaned house, spent time with my son, and put all my free time into the puzzle.

So I've finally turned my attention back to writing.  Phew!

An in-depth sequel to Dead Wrong is in the works, though at the moment my caique is thwarting any attempts to focus.  He's probably hungry, since he is nomming on my fingers relentlessly.  ;)

I did quite a bit of reading, however.  I worked my way through 3 of Carolyn Meyers' "Young Royals" books.  I truly, truly enjoyed Bad Queen: Rules and Instructions for Marie Antoinette.   The other 2 books I read were not nearly as interesting.

Finishing Heartless was also a treat.  I'm a fan of the Parasol Protectorate series, and cannot wait for Timeless!  It was great to see that Lady Maccon was still in action, even in her third trimester of preternatural pregnancy!  Her baby's abilities are quite interesting as well, and I'm looking forward to seeing how they explain her powers in the next book.

At the moment, I'm reading Clockwork Angel, and am not sure yet how I feel about it.

For now, the most important writing priorities are revising some old lesson work that I created for my coven, finalizing a novel, and completing a book of Goddess pathworkings.  However, I have so many books in progress, that I am never short of work.  ^.^
